iPhone 5 Release Date is October 15 According to France Telecom?s CEO [Stephane Richard Says New iPhone?s Launch Date is October 15, If He Believes What He Heard]

Earlier today we heard that Apple may release iOS 5 Gold Master on September 23, which will then be tested by carriers until October 5. Following that deadline Apple should launch the next-gen iPhone, which lines perfectly with previous rumors.

In fact it looks like Stephane Richard, who happens to be the CEO of France Telecom, is ready to reveal the actual launch date of the device:

If I believe what we heard, the iPhone 5 will be released on October 15.

This isn?t an outright confirmation of the iPhone?s release date and it certainly sounds like he?s also interpreting certain rumors that are currently flying around. On the other hand, considering that the mobile arm of the company he runs, Orange, is directly interested in selling the iPhone 5, we can also assume he?s not just referring to current rumors.

It?s also very likely that Apple will launch the iPhone 5 simultaneously in the USA, France, Germany, UK and Japan, should the company follow the previous iPhone 4 roll out pattern. On the other hand, considering that sales will start in early-to-mid October and Apple wants to make the most of the Christmas shopping season, we could see the company release the phone in even more markets right from day one.

What?s certain is that Richard may have a general idea of when Orange France, and some of its international subsidiaries, will be launching the iPhone. And the device will hit U.S. stores probably on the same date.

In fact this is not the first time we?ve seen him talk about Apple-related plans. Earlier this year he did talk about the future thinner and smaller iPhone 5, although those design claims are yet to be verified.

Recent rumors detailing Apple?s iPhone 5 launch claimed that the company will launch the new handset on either October 7 or October 14, which seems to coincide with the same date Richard is referring to. We?ll be back with more iPhone 5 details for you, in the mean time let us know what U.S. carrier you?d rather buy the iPhone from (vote in our poll here)?
